Too much time spent in a single position can cause you problems over time. Sitting
at a desk or standing for a prolonged time causes stress on your lower back. If
you job requires that you spend an extended amount of time in one position, you
will have to make a point to work out ways to move around while working. If you
stand mostly, you can make a habit of shifting your weight often. Slightly bend
and straighten your knees several times an hour.

If you sit mostly, make a habit of looking up/down and side/side so your neck
doesn’t get stiff. Stand up at least once an hour and do some marching in
place. Make a triangle patterns with your hands and put the triangle up to your
forehead and then look up to the ceiling.

Try to move out of the position you spend the most time in. For example, if you
lean forward, try to lean backward. Remember, if you begin having pain, it’s a
signal that your joints want to move.
