Dizziness often called vertigo can be caused by many different conditions. One of those conditions is caused from a blockage in the inner ear. Formation of crystals in the canal that shift when you go from a horizontal to vertical position and block off the drainage of the fluid in your ear can be easily treated by a trained physical therapist. The techincal term for the condition is Benign Proxisimal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Often the dizziness comes on quickly and just doesn’t go away. It can be made worse if you bend over and stand back up, or rise up from a laying down position. Physical therapy can be effective in clearing the blockage and can give you exercises to keep it from reoccurring. If your dizziness persists for very long it can be dangerous, so don’t wait too long to get help. Call us to get a free 15 minute consultation to see if we can correct your condition.
