9 Tips To Help You Feel Better at Work

Posted by Vicki on 04/23/2019

The static position of a person seated at their desk for hours on end can result in this kind of wear and tear on you spine! Here are a few tips to help you keep your body in good working order while still getting your work done at your desk.

  • Make sure the top of your monitor is just below eye level.
  • Keep your head/neck upright rather than tilted forward or back.
  • Knees, hips, and elbows should be at a 90-100 degree angle to keep your spine in good alignment.
  • Your forearms should be parallel to the floor.
  • Screen should be at arms length, any further and you tend to sit with your head forward.
  • Wrists should be straight and relaxed.
  • Feet flat on the floor or on a footrest to decrease strain on your back.
  • Keep your screen free of glare.
  • Have a good support for your lower back.

Following these tips for a good work station will help. You should also take frequent breaks to stand and change your postion and stretch for a few minutes to keep your muscles/tendons from getting tight. Prolonged sitting in one static position will strain even the strongest muscles, so change up your work station to avoid always looking to the left or right. Remember to not get so wrapped up in one task that you spend more time than you intend in a constant posture that is bad.
